Term for the Macintosh Term version 4.6.3 August 14, 1991 Term is an asynchronous communications program for the Macintosh. It emulates a TVI950 terminal, and is specifically designed to work well with an IBM 7171 or equivalent 3270 protocol converter. It shares many features (and code) with tn3270, including support for file transfer using the same RMAC and WMAC commands. As a result, users find it easy to switch from tn3270 to Term when they must connect through a modem. Term has not been developed to the same extent as tn3270. However, it is the terminal program of choice for modem users at Brown, and we have found it to be reliable. Term is contained in a self-extracting Compact Pro archive. To obtain Term, first downlaad "term463.seahqx" as an ASCII text file. If possible, specify BinHex file transfer in order to skip a conversion step. If BinHex was used, "Term 4.6.3.sea" will be downloaded directly to your Mac. Otherwise, use BinHex 4.0 or an equivalent program to restore "Term 4.6.3.sea" from "term463.seahqx". Finally, double-click on "Term 4.6.3.sea" to run the built-in extraction program. It is not necessary to use the self-extracting feature of the archive file. It may also be opened and manipulated by Compact Pro, or any program which supports Compact Pro archives. The source for Term is also available. For more information, see the file "termsrc.read-me".
