.LM11.RM70 .C Installation Procedure for the PME .B.C Performance Measurement and Evaluation Package .B3.I5 The VAX PME installation kit consists of two floppy disks. The first floppy, which is used to actually install the package, contains the necessary executable images and object files. It also contains a copy of the documenta- tion. The second floppy contains the PME source files. .B.I5 More precisely, the first PME floppy disk has the following contents: .B.NF.NJ.TP10 -- Sticker Label: PME, December 5, 1979. -- Label: PME -- Contents: Directory [SYSUPD] containing these files: [SYSUPD]PMEBUILD.EXE [SYSUPD]PMEHISTO.EXE [SYSUPD]PME.OBJ [SYSUPD]PMECLOCK.OBJ [SYSUPD]PMETRACE.OBJ [SYSUPD]PMEDOC.DOC [SYSUPD]PME.COM .B.F.J.I5 PME is installed with the general VAX optional software installation procedure described in Section 6.1 of the VAX-11 Software Installation Guide. First, follow the instructions in Section 6.1.2; this requires the following input: .B.NF.TP3.NJ $ SET UIC [1,4] $ SET DEFAULT [SYSUPD] $ @VMSUPDATE .B.F.J After the first PME floppy has been placed in the drive and the ARE YOU READY TO CONTINUE? message has been answered with a "Y", the PME files are copied to the following files on the system disk: .B.NF.TP5.NJ [SYSEXE]PMEBUILD.EXE [SYSEXE]PMEHISTO.EXE [SYSLIB]PME.OBJ [SYSLIB]PMECLOCK.OBJ [SYSLIB]PMETRACE.OBJ [SYSHLP]PMEDOC.DOC .B.F.J Note that the documentation is also copied in. It can thus be printed out as needed with a PRINT command. .B.I5 At this point the installation is done and is wrapped up as described in Section 6.1.4 of the Software Installa- tion Guide. The whole installation procedure takes 3 - 5 minutes. .B.I5 The second PME floppy disk has the following contents: .B.NJ.NF.TP6 -- Sticker label: PMESOURCE, December 5, 1979. -- Label: PMESOURCE -- Contents: Directory [PMESOURCE] containing all PME files. [PMESOURCE]PMEGEN.COM is a command file which compiles, links, and prints all PME programs. .B.F.J To get at the sources, this floppy has be mounted on DXA1:#and the whole [PMESOURCE] directory copied to the user's default directory. The indicated command procedure can then be invoked to compile, link, and print out all the PME programs. The generated listing is about 200 - 300 pages long.
