!!![VAXYYY.SUB]AAAREADME.TXT! BUILDREAD.COM NOW DOES THIS AUTOMATICALLY. Eye Research Institute Submissions coordinated by: Bob Goldstein Bob Goldstein, Daniel P.B. Smith, Rivkah Stabiner Eye Research Institute of Retina Foundation 20 Staniford Street Boston, MA 02114 (617) 742-3140 This submission consists of 3 directories, APPLE_LASER.DIR, HALFTONE.DIR, and RESPONSE.DIR. They are 3 independant programs. For a one-line summary description of each, see AAAREADME.TXT. APPLE_LASER is a program that takes grey-scale images (the programmer must provide his own input routine to get the image into memory), and produces an ASCII Postscript file that can be copied directly to an Apple Laserwriter to print the image. The program uses the IMAGE function in postscript to accomplish this, and also sends the images in strips to eliminate memory overflows within the laserwriter. HALFTONE also operates on grey-scale images. However, it converts the image to halftones (1s and 0s) and produces sixel files suitable for viewing on VT240s and LA50 printers. This is an update of a previous submission. RESPONSE is a program that captures USER opinion of system response time. It does this by asking each user, upon logout, to give the system a letter grade of A,B,C,D, or F. The results are accumulated in a file. Periodically this file is analyzed and a report is produced.
