                Fermilab NOTICE archival system

All items posted for public viewing with the NOTICE utility are
retained for reference in a VMS MAIL file in LIB's NOTICE product
subdirectory. The most recent items are listed first in the mail file.
Set up the NOTICE symbol with  LIB:[LIB.NOTICE]SETUP.COM, Then just
type NOTICE and follow the instructions.

NOTICE.MAI is the log file of all NOTICEs posted on the FNAL:: system.
This file must have World WRITE protection, in order to allow all users
to read it. To protect against accidents, the actual working file will
be maintained in NOTICE.LOG Information for the previous one to two
quarters will be maintained in these files. Quarterly archival versions
will be generated with names such as NOTICE.85A/B/C/D  for
first/second/third/last quarter 1985. 

When notices are posted, the maintainer of this system should be
notified by mail, so that the item may be copied from the NOTICE data
base to this MAIL file.  An automatic logging mechanism will be
developed for future use.
