PROBLEM #1 (19 OCT 1989) EVA HATCHERSON: CKLEMAN@AEGIS-DAHLGREN was not receiving mail from VANN@TROUT.NOSC.MIL. In fact, after further investigation, it was found that our node could not communicate with their node at all. Maria Rachko called me to inform me (703-892-0008). SOLUTION #1: Contacted Debbie Futcher (DFUTCHE@NSWC-OAS.ARPA via MILNET mail). We needed to set up a geteway in the following way. 1) Make sure ther following entry is in the file [NETDIST.ETC]HOST: 26.0.0.104 DCED-MILNET-GW.ARPA MILDEC 2) Execute the following command, and make sure its in STARTINET so it will be done automatically done at login: ROUTE ADD DEFAULT DCEC-MILNET-GW.ARPA 1 *************************************************************************** PROBLEM #2 (04 AUG 1989) The host name was changed for the local node and the host table was updated. However when mail is sent to a remote node it appears to the receiver that the sending node has not changed its name. SOLUTION #2 The host name is set with the HOSTNAME command. At boot time it is set from within the command file STARTINET.COM in the directroy [netdist.misc]. The host name should be changed in the STARTINET.COM file so that it will be correct at boot time and may be done interactively to correct the problem without a reboot. ***************************************************************************
