Is this a function of PSI security on the connecting node ? For example, as I type this, I can see HERCAUD_L logged in from a DTE whose number shows up; but three other X25 users (including myself) are just NVAxxxx. ================================================================================ Note 165.1 TRANSPAC addresses showing up sometimes 1 of 5 DECUSF::JOLIN_R "Rémi JOLIN - T.A.T." 10 lines 29-JUL-1991 17:26 -< le DTE est confidentiel !! ================================================================================ Note 165.2 TRANSPAC addresses showing up sometimes 2 of 5 DECUSF::BROWN_N "Nick BROWN, Conseil de l'Europe" 10 lines 29-JUL-1991 17:38 -< Thanks >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for the info. I'm not too scared of pirates (PSI security is pretty tough), but I agree that any info they can get is probably more than they should have. On a slightly related topic, we have implemented the useful program published in a recent VAX professional which puts the LAT server and port into the accounting file in place fo the remote system and user, so that you can do accounting by servers, etc. If anyone is interested I will post it. The original was in assembler, but I have translated it into C. ================================================================================ Note 165.3 TRANSPAC addresses showing up sometimes 3 of 5 DECUSF::JOLIN_R "Rémi JOLIN - T.A.T." 2 lines 29-JUL-1991 17:45 -< je suis tres interesse... >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh que oui, ca m'interesse... ================================================================================ Note 165.4 TRANSPAC addresses showing up sometimes 4 of 5 DECUSF::BROWN_N "Nick BROWN, Conseil de l'Europe" 5 lines 29-JUL-1991 18:25 -< Enjoy (y'allllllll.......) >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, look in PUB:[VMS]LOG_PORT.BCK and .BCK_Z for source, object, executable, and even half a page of documentation... This program runs in kernel mode - you are *STRONGLY* encouraged to compile it yourself (you don't trust stuff you get off BBSes, do you ?) ================================================================================ Note 165.5 TRANSPAC addresses showing up sometimes 5 of 5 DECUSF::BROWN_N "Nick BROWN, Conseil de l'Europe" 12 lines 30-JUL-1991 10:20 -< Enjoy (again) >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to Rémi for his suggestion and sample code - LOG_PORT now supports X29 addresses as well. The remote node shows up as the first six characters of the network name, where available (eg "TRANSP") or "X29" otherwise. The remote port is the calling DTE. I have also added support for PCSA V4 LAT. Under PCSA V3, a PC running SETHOST and LAT showed up as PC_AA000400abcd; now it is LAT_AA000400abcd. Both of these now result in the remote node becoming just "PC". Also new is support for unnamed terminal servers. By default these are called LAT_08002Babcdef; these now show up as abcdef.
