Step 2: Compile without sockets--just a normal MMK/DESC=[.VMS]/Macro=("decc=1") and see if it compiles OK. If so, then test it. Using the Dec C RTL socket interface is a little trickier--it requires some manipulation of [.VMS]DESCRIP.MMS. I've got an altered copy if you want the details.
